Music I Listen To

2. My favorite song is Milky Way by Vertueux.  I don't have any feelings connected to this song, but I did listen to it quite a bit when I went on my trip to Japan.  I mostly just like the lead singer's voice.

3.  Yes, my taste in music has changed so much.  From middle school, when all I listened to was anime music, night core, parody songs, and Escape the Fate, it has evolved into something much more... Less embarrassing.  I now listen to Vertueux, t.A.T.u., Fall Out Boy, Yuzu, Jeffree Star and still, the occasional anime music.  I can't believe I BOUGHT the theme songs from Shugo Chara.

8.  I admire the music of Jeffree Star because many of his songs, while they talk about 'inappropriate' things, I feel like they really push to accept things that were unacceptable.  Many of his songs talk about wearing makeup and wear feminine cloths, but instead of talking about the struggles of gender roles, promptly tells the roles to f-off and proceeds to own it.  I think he's very revolutionary, and should receive more attention for his work.

10.  I think all music should be acceptable, it's the people who make it terrible.  When a new artist comes out with music that isn't like other music, (Ke$ha, Lady Gaga) many people jump on the internet and comment on all their music videos saying how it isn't 'real music' and ask, 'what happened to ACDC and Metallica'?  Everybody likes different music, don't bash people for what like and calm down.

11.  Some music can have poetic properties, but I’m bad at reconizing them, so I don’t know many poetic songs.  Songs do have similar writing styles to poetry, such as usually having short sentences, or having a melodic flow.  Owl City is a very well-known band that has very poetic lyrics.
You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
'Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave tear drops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

15.  I used to want to be a singer when I was younger (middle school), but then I realized that I could not carry a tune to save my life.  I still sing often though, when I’m completely alone, usually in my car.

  1. I will always associate Fireflies with my son when he was little, singing it in the car, but also that idea of showing him the small wonders in the world if I can. I like the word "revolutionary" you chose to describe the music you're drawn to. I get it.
